What does "FAQ" mean?
It means "Frequently Asked Questions". You have just asked one.
How is it pronounced?
Quaf.
What's the deal with HUMUOR?
Well, if you had bothered to watch the video, you'd know that the zine is inspired by "Army Man", a truly legendary comedy zine from 1988-90, edited by George Meyer and staffed by other geniuses. The idea, of course, is to replicate its achievements. An impossible task? For you, maybe.
Who's the editor?
James Thomas is a humorist from Ireland, who wrote the book WHY THE LONG JOKE?, the Twitter serial Crimer Show, short pieces for The New Yorker and lots of other things. He's known to many as Astonishing Sod and he's the President of Twitter, which is a lot less rewarding than it sounds.
How do I buy it?
Will I be able to buy a PDF edition?
Yep. On July 13th. The other way to get it is to buy the Executive Edition, which you can pre-order right now.
Will you be offering subscriptions?
Yes indeed, if Issue #1 does well enough. Think of it as a pilot episode...
What is its surface area?
It's A4 size. So 62370mm squared. Happy now?
No.
Fine. It's the size of a young armadillo. It's a DIY effort, with nice fonts and all that. Even Bodoni MT!
How many pages?
Issue 1 has 24 A4 pages, featuring high-quality printing throughout. I hope to increase the page count for Issue 2.
Is it a zine about humer?
No. It's a zine OF humer. The finest humer, raw, pure and unvarnished. Check out the contents of Issue #1 at the bottom of this page.
Who are the contributors for Issue 1?
As well as the editor (James Thomas), we *had* Mike Abbruzzi, Grace Clarke, Suzanne Coppell, Brian Ferguson, Terry Gill-Moore, Ed McAskill, Franky Nguyen, Cathy Porter, Vincent Touré, Aoife Warner, and illustrator Ernst Baumann. Sadly, they've gone missing in a hot air balloon (read more here). As a result, James Thomas has written a brand new Issue 1 himself.
Will contributors get paid?
Any profits will be divided among the contributors. The more copies we sell, the more everyone involved gets paid. Don't just sit there! Throw us a few coins!
(A breakdown of costs will be published here on release day.)
I write comedy. I want in. Publish my thing. I'm cool.
Get in touch: humuormagazine[AT]gmail[DOT]com. Can't promise anything, but Issue 2 needs contributors. Issue 1 needs readers, first, though! And the best way to gauge the tone of the zine is to read it!
Can I buy some copies to sell in my shop/store?
Of course! Email: humuormagazine[AT]gmail[DOT]com.
Can you tell me more about the zine?
It's looking great. Follow @HumuorMagazine for more updates!
